West 29th Restaurant & Bar is a restaurant in the more traditional sense of the word: good food paired with friendly service in a comfortable atmosphere. With the character of a small town European inn combined with the boldness of the Colorado west, West 29th is a great place to gather with friends, have great drinks, terrific fresh food, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Conveniently Located in beautiful, family friendly Wheat Ridge, CO, just a few blocks from trendy Sloans Lake and Edgewater.
Located four blocks west of Sheridan Boulevard on West 29th Avenue, the restaurant features a renovated early 20th Century community grocery building as the entry and bar; a small private dining room and main dining room with views of the open kitchen, the brick fireplace and the two outside patios – the main patio with the splashing fountain and the smaller chef’s garden patio in the back.
The building’s interiors feature recycled wood trim from an 1880’s Larimer St. building and a small old wooden house that was on the corner of the property. Bright blue umbrellas provide shade from the summer sun on the fountain patio with a full patio cover over the chef’s patio, both with seating among the lovely landscaped gardens. Patio heaters extend the wonderful Colorado evenings throughout the fall and early spring. A 16 car on-site parking lot provides convenient guest parking with many additional spaces available on the street. You will find yourself in comfortable surroundings ready for a great time.
And nothing makes for a better time than good food and drink with friends. Created under the direction of Executive Chef Cory Matthews, we feature a menu focused on fresh ingredients, locally sourced when available, with dishes sometimes described as “American with a French accent.” Chicken, beef, fish and seafood, vegetables and other delicious ingredients are combined into wonderfully creative, approachable and delicious dishes. The restaurant has a great selection of appetizers, small plates and salads. Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes complement the menu. Look for the chef’s daily specials for some wonderful eats. And don’t forget dessert, with traditional and innovative offerings, and, perhaps, a coffee and aperitif.
Along with great food comes great drink. A very solid wine list with a selection ranging from light crispy whites to dark reds is available by the glass and the bottle – “cellared” in our own wine cellar below the trap door in the bar! In a nod to its heritage the bar serves European beer on tap in traditional German ceramic beer steins (½ and full liter sizes). Pull up a stool at the dark granite bar top with the solid oak arm rest, order your favorite cocktail and be prepared to have a great time.
Nothing makes a great experience as much as great service and we do our best to provide the very finest service available. Our friendly and knowledgeable servers will fully explain the menu and ensure that you have a wonderful dining experience.
